Future user interfaces must be able to address the personal computing environments anticipated in the future. The key points you should have addressed are that interfaces are expected to be multiple, distributed and communication-centric:
- Computers are increasingly used for communication rather than for computation. This is substantiated by the current usage of the Web, email and mobile digital devices.
- Computers are a major mechanism for person-to-person mediation. Applications supporting CSCW and distance education are expected to become more prevalent in the future. It cannot be assumed that participants in these collaborations will have either similar computing systems or UIs.
- Individuals will be using multiple devices. Convenient tools will be required for data sharing and device synchronization.
