How to sign up as a member?
Answer
Please follow the steps below:
1) Go to our website: http://www.opentextbooks.org.hk
2) Click sign up at the top right corner
3) Fill in the registration form. The email address you provided will be your login ID
4) Press submit
5) An auto-email will be sent to your given email address. This email is for you to set your password
6) After setting your password, the sign up process is complete
How to set my password?
Answer
In some cases, the auto-email would be sent to the spam mail box. Please check.
If you cannot find our auto-email even in the spam mail box, please follow the steps below:
1) Go to our website: http://www.opentextbooks.org.hk ,
2) Click login at the top right corner
3) Insert the email address which you used for the sign up process
4) Then press forgot my password
5) An auto-email will be sent to your email address to reset your password
6) After resetting your password, go back to our website and repeat the log in process
How to log in?

Please follow the steps below:

2) Click login at the top right corner
3) Insert the email address which you used for the sign up process
4) Insert the password
5) Then press log in.
What should I do if I have forgotten my password?
Answer
1) Go to our website: http://www.opentextbooks.org.hk , click login at the top right corner
2) Insert the email address which you used for the sign up process
3) Click Forgot my password
4) An auto-email will be sent to your email address to reset your password
5) After resetting your password, go back to our website and repeat the log in process
Where to download open textbooks?
Answer
1) You have to be our member to download open textbook. Please sign up if you have not been our members yet
2) After login, go to our website: http://www.opentextbooks.org.hk , click login at the top right corner
3) Select the level you need by clicking the tiles
4) Follow the instructions to download the open textbooks you need.
Can I download open textbooks without becoming a member?
Answer
Most of our books are available for members only. Therefore, we encourage you to sign up as a member to download the open textbooks.

Teachers of Hong Kong primary / secondary schools

How to confirm that I am a teacher of Hong Kong primary / secondary school?
Answer
In order for us to confirm you are a teacher of a Hong Kong local school, we will contact you through your school ASAP once we got your registration information. After confirmation, we will grant teacher’s access right to you. You will then be able to download the whole series of Open English (Student’s books).
The whole administrative process will take 3-7 working days; depend on the number of registrations we receive. In the meantime, you can access the sample units. Teachers / Tutors from tutorial centers, language schools or schools from other regions are not applicable.
How to download Open English?

Please follow the steps below:
1) Only members can download open textbooks, so please log in (If you have not been our member, please sign up first.)
2) Click the tile as appropriate: Primary textbooks / Secondary textbooks
3) Select levels then units
4) Choose the version that you want to download by clicking the orange button. Here is an example:

What kind of device should I use to read the e-version of Open English?

How to obtain hardcopies of Open English?
Answer
A. I want to print the whole book / print some pages for own use. How to do it?
Please download the PDF version of the book you need, then print the whole book or the selected pages. You need software, such as Adobe Reader to open the PDF files, and of course, a printer to print the book.
B. What should I do to print the books for my students?
We do not arrange hard copies for schools. You can download the PDF file and give it to a printing service provider to arrange hard copies. In “pricing information”, you can have some ideas about the printing cost of Open English, but it is for reference only. If your school has preferred printing service providers, please obtain printing details from them. Please go to “pricing information” for details

How to obtain teacher’s book / teacher’s edition of Open English?
Answer
If you school decided to adopt Open English for lessons, please submit the adoption details to us by filling in a request. We will contact you ASAP to arrange for the access to the teaching resources via your account.
To obtain request form (s), please contact our project coordinator by email: bwu@ouhk.edu.hk Here are the points to note when obtaining teacher’s books:
- We need your school principal’s endorsement for the adoption of Open English
- Participating teachers and students would be invited to submit their feedback about Open English in form of a questionnaire
Would you provide training to us?
Answer
We organize seminars for schools regularly in order to promote the use of open textbooks for eLearning, self-access learning and learner diversity.
We can also arrange on-site training workshops for schools. Please contact us for arrangements.

Teachers of post-secondary institutions and universities

2) Click the tile as appropriate, “Textbooks for Certificates and Diplomas” or “Tertiary and University textbooks”

3) Choose the version that you want to download by clicking the orange button. Here is an example:
