Training Workshop - The Adoption of Open Textbooks

The Open Textbooks for Hong Kong Project is currently developing twelve open textbooks on the English Language subject at Primary 1 to Secondary 6 levels. Some of the units (including printed, PDF and ePub versions) will be tried out for free in the 2014-15 school year.  The project team invited Hong Kong schools to attend briefing sessions on the tryout of English Language open textbooks between March and July 2014. After the briefing sessions, over 40 primary and secondary schools have agreed to become our pilot schools and joined our ‘English Language Open Textbook Tryout Scheme’. They will be using our open textbooks in the lessons and remedial classes in the 2014-15 school year.

In order to help English Language teachers from the pilot schools to have a better understanding of how students can flexibly use the printed and electronic versions of our open textbooks within and after classes, the project team will organize teacher training workshops on the adoption of open textbooks for them in late August.

Target audience:
School Principals, English Language subject panel and teachers from schools which have already joined our ‘Open Textbook Tryout Scheme 2014-15’
