A relation is a subset of the Cartesian product of a list of domains characterized by a name. Given n domains denoted by D1, D2, …, Dn , r is a relation defined on these domains if r?D1×D2×…×Dn. A relation can be viewed as a “table”. In that table, each row represents a tuple of data values and each column represents an attribute.
