  2. Describe what the phrase “sociology is a social science” means.
  3. Describe the specific considerations of which social scientists should be aware.

In "How Do We Know What We Know?", we considered a variety of ways of knowing and the philosophy of knowing. But this is a sociology text rather than a philosophy text. And sociology is a science, or more specifically a social science. In this section, we’ll take a closer look at the science of sociology and some specific considerations of which sociological researchers must be aware.
