When employees feel that a low level of teamwork exists within the company, managers must move to increase feelings of trust and loyalty on the part of workers.

This means getting employees to invest emotionally in the company. As a developer-manager, a superior seeks to build team responsibility and interpersonal goals while increasing goal commitment on the part of subordinates. Quality circles are one way to encourage these things. The day-to-day behavior of management is also important to develop feelings of trust within employees.
