The manager's task is to increase feelings of loyalty and trust on the part of others. The easiest place to begin is with himself or herself. Group trust can be encouraged if the manager takes risks, disclosing some personal information to other members of the group. It is likely that in such a situation, the rest of the work group will respond in kind.
This exercise will help the manager understand the behavior associated with a climate of trust and will assist the manager in developing goals to encourage such behavior within himself or herself.
