The wholly owned subsidiary is a manager's dream; it is the preferred type of DFI. For all practical purposes, it is an extension of the MNC's production and distribution system located in a country other than the MNC's home country. In discussions of the international management functions of organization, finance and accounting, production, marketing and sales, and personnel in later chapters, the wholly owned subsidiary will be used as the model.
