THE ENSCAN ASSISTANT EXPERT SYSTEM

19 January, 2016 - 15:18

The ENSCAN expert system is one of the least ambitious expert systems. It attempts to replicate an assistant's contribution to the problem of environmental scanning for a multinational corporation. For this reason the system focuses mostly on the mechanics of scanning. Most of the creative part of the scanning process is left to the individual manager who, alone or as a member of a group, constitutes the expert. 1

Figure 4.6 diagrams the main components of the expert system: component A, the database; component B, the knowledge base; and component C, the inference engine.
