(2) MNC, AG, a large German car manufacturer in the United States, has been experiencing severe profitability problems. The company's profit has been negative for the last two years. The company's management has come to you for advice. Design a profitability decision tree (as depicted in Figure 16.2) for MNC, AG, indicating the sources of the information you will need to arrive at a specific recommendation for improving the company's profitability.

(3) In designing a profitability decision tree for MNC, AG, you discover that the firm's management is confused as to what data are needed by managers at different levels. Top management is bombarded with tons of computer printouts, while operational executives are starving for the same data. Apparently, data-processing people are trying to impress top managers by giving them more and more information. Using the framework shown in Figure 16.4, list the specific kinds of information on the profitability problem that might be of use to executives at each level in the corporation.

(4) Using questions similar to those in  RATING THE DATA PROCESSING OPERATION, interview some executives of a local company to determine whether the firm's existing information system is providing them with the information they need to function in the most efficient manner. Then write a report in which you analyze your findings and fi1.ake recommendations for improving the firm's information management.
